The SAC Tournament started on Monday. Northrop entered Monday's tilt against Wayne on a four game losing streak. Wayne was sitting at 3-2 on the season, but lost to Carroll the last time out.

Northrop jumped out to an early lead of 11-4, but sophomore Kylon Jarreau kept Wayne in the game early. Jarreau scored seven points in the first period. He also grabbed three rebounds.

Northrop sophomore post player Antwone Washington was efficient throughout the game. He went four of four from the field and also grabbed a few rebounds. He helped Northrop start to pull away in the second period.

It was the third quarter that sealed Wayne's fate. Northrop went 9-11 from the field in the quarter, but it wasn't a fluke as most of the attempts were in the paint. Sophomore guard Jalan Mull led the way in the quarter. He scored eight points on five shots in the period. Mull also dished out a couple of assists in the critical stanza.

Richard Robertson put the finishing touches on the game for Northrop. He scored eight of his 17 points in the period, but the game was never in doubt after the second period.

Senior Jagger Surface finished with 15 points and eight rebounds in the win.

Freshman Craig Young was a bright spot for Wayne. He finished with 10 points and seven rebounds although most of his production was in the first half. Young is an athletic forward that did a good job of converting around the basket.

Northrop moves on to play Snider on Tuesday night in the quarterfinals with the 77-44 victory.
