The seniors were motivated by the chatter that the juniors had a chance of winning on Tuesday night. They set the tone early and blew out the juniors in Bloomington. It was a different story on Thursday night. The Junior All-stars jumped out to the early lead on Thursday evening and pulled the upset, 103-90.

The juniors beating the seniors isn’t an unprecedented event. Many of these seniors upset the 2015 All-Stars last year. It happened in 2011 and 2006 (off the top of my head) as well.

The Junior All-Stars had 26 assists on Thursday night compared to 15 on Tuesday. On Tuesday, it was the first half of stagnant ball movement that dug a deep hole. That was not the case in Lebanon. The other big difference from Tuesday to Thursday was rebounding. The Indiana All-Stars had an advantage of 63-45. It was flipped on Thursday with the juniors winning the battle of the boards, 59-40.

The Junior All-Stars had five guys in double figures – Paul Scruggs (17), Malik Williams (15), Tyler Smith (15), Kris Wilkes (14) and Jack Nunge (14). Those five players hit 11 of the 12 three-pointers for the juniors.

The seniors received an efficient game from Mr. Basketball Kyle Guy, who attended his high school graduation right before the game. Guy had 17 points (6-13 FG) and five rebounds. Outside of Joey Brunk’s 12 points on 5-9 shooting and Brachen Hazen’s 3-3 shooting, the seniors struggled to make shots. They shot just 33% in the opening half and 42% in the game.

The Indiana All-Stars take on the Kentucky All-Stars Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse at 5:00 PM.
