After a narrow victory Saturday night, the Indiana All-Star winning streak against Kentucky came to an end Sunday. Kentucky beat Indiana 111-110 in double overtime in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Indiana jumped out to a 13-4 lead to begin the game, but Kentucky led most of the first half. Peyton Broughton was the spark early. He scored all 10 of his points in the first half. Later in the half, it was Terry Taylor that came alive for Kentucky. Taylor was a key to the victory for Kentucky. He finished with 22 points and 17 rebounds. He is headed to Austin Peay.

Mr. Basketball Kris Wilkes was the strength for Indiana once again. He scored 11 in the first half to keep Indiana in the game. Grant Smith had a really nice stretch as well. He scored 12 of his 17 in the first half. Sasha Stefanovic tallied 10 of his 15 in the first half as well.

It was tied at halftime. Kentucky controlled the second half. The lead reached 16 points for Kentucky before Indiana mounted a comeback. Mack Smith was the spark for Indiana. He hit back-to-back three-pointers around the six-minute mark to get things started for Indiana. Smith finished the game with 23 points.

Kris Wilkes made a lot of key plays in the final minutes of regulation. He did a little of everything for Indiana. If he didn’t produce at a high level, Indiana would not have been in the game. Wilkes finished with 28 points and 14 rebounds.

On the other side, Jake Ohmer was a monster in the second half for Kentucky. He scored 22 of his 30 points after halftime. He recorded seven rebounds and five steals as well. His play was a deciding factor in the game.

A technical foul on Mack Smith with under a minute to play placed Indiana behind the eight ball. Indiana still had a chance to tie the game but came up short.

Kentucky got its first win in the Indiana-Kentucky series since 2009.  Indiana had its 17-game winning streak snapped with the loss.

Jack Nunge did not play in Sunday’s game as he left for Iowa.
