Fishers and Lawrence Central began their season on Tuesday evening, with the host Bears running away from Fishers by a 70-38 score. Lawrence Central had a balanced attack with all five starters in double figures, lead by Nijel Pack’s 16 points.
The Bears used hot shooting from deep to run away and hide, leading by 14 after one quarter and extending that to 26 at halftime. Nijel Pack hit all four of his threes in the first half, three from the right corner. The length and athleticism of Lawrence Central affected Fishers’ ability to simply run effective offense, as every catch was met with pressure, creating turnovers and taking away driving lanes.
Lawrence Central would end up hitting nine three-pointers in the game, to only two for Fishers. Lawrence Central also went 17/23 from the free throw line, with point guard Jaden Terry making 9/12 from the stripe.
Fishers takes on county and conference rival Noblesville on December 1st, while Lawrence Central opens up MIC play when they face the Carmel Greyhounds on December 1st.
