Lawrence Central Hands Lawrence North First Loss

Lawrence Central jumped on rival Lawrence North early then held off a comeback for the 66-57 victory.

Key Stretch
Lawrence Central used hot shooting to build an early lead. Lawrence North battled back as LC's shooting cooled off in the second quarter. Lawrence Central clung to a six-point lead at the half. LC shut down LN in the third quarter - six points. The Wildcats were unable to force LC into backcourt turnovers. That forced LN to play half court basketball and they didn't make shots consistently in the half court.

Despite all that, North had a chance make it a game late in the fourth quarter. The Wildcats started to create steals then attacked the lane to draw fouls. Unfortunately for North, they were not able to convert. LN was 6-15 from the line in the game.

Standout Players
Donyell Meredith set the tone with his ball-handling and shooting. Meredith played in the middle against Lawrence North's press and he executed it perfectly. He also buried a few outside shots to give LC the early lead. He finished with 15 points, four rebounds and two assists.

D'Andre Davis was huge in the second half for Central. He finished with a team-high 19 points with 12 after the half. His scoring bailed out Central from a few tough spots.

Jared Hankins battled foul trouble to finish with a game-high 21 points. He was 8-17 from the field.

Tony Perkins gave North good production, especially in the second half. He had 15 points on 6-10 shooting from the field. The downside was his free throw shooting - 2-8.
