Pendleton Heights held off a late rally from Frankton Tuesday night to notch a victory in the opening round of the Madison County Tournament.

The Arabians used a great defensive effort to hold Frankton to a 2/14 performance from behind the arc that allowed Pendleton Heights to overcome 17 turnovers and only 5 points from leading scorer Trent Miller.

Pendleton Heights, the defending Madison County champions, outscored Frankton by ten points in the third quarter to take a nine point advantage into the final eight minutes. Frankton would score the first 9 points of the fourth to tie the game at 38, but Eli Pancol scored all nine of his points in the second half for the Arabians, and senior guard Justin Shupe scored a team high 16 points on 7 of 8 shooting from the floor.

Kayden Key led 2A #3 Frankton with 22 points, but the Eagles lost their second straight game, albeit both to 4A schools. Pendleton Heights advances to the semifinals where they will host Alexandria on Thursday. Frankton plays Anderson Prep Academy on Thursday in the consolation bracket.
