First time seeing Park Tudor in the regular season this year. I went to their scrimmage, but this would be a much better setting to see Yogi Ferrell, Trevon Bluiett, and company. Second time seeing Lawrence Central as I saw them play Chicago Julian December 22nd.
Yogi Ferrell came out and set the tone right from the tip. He hit a 3 to start the game and had 8 first quarter points. The game started out with hot shooting from both teams. Tre Granger hit a couple of 3's for Lawrence Central and Jeremy Hollowell had 5 points. LC held a small 17-15 lead after the first.
The pace slowed in the second quarter and both teams suddenly became cold from the outside. Tyler Corley did a good job of getting to the rim and had 7 first half points. Lawrence Central took a 25-24 lead into halftime.
Yogi had a big third quarter. He had 12 points and a handful of assists in the quarter alone. Park Tudor took the momentum away from Lawrence Central. When Ferrell would draw multiple defenders, the outside shooters of Park Tudor made them pay by knocking down shots. If you are an outside shooter, there is no better player to play with than Ferrell. One defender cannot stop him off the dribble, so help always has to come. Which leaves shooter wide open to shoot like they when in their driveway alone. Park Tudor was ahead 40-39 after 3.
The fourth quarter was dominated by Hollowell and it had nothing to do with him shooting from the outside. He dominated the paint area against the smaller Park Tudor team. In the quarter, he had 11 points and 6 rebounds. Hollowell was attacking rebounds and playing with an intensity that you rarely see from him especially inside. Tyler Fischl helped Hollowell on the boards and came up with some big offensive rebounds. Lawrence Central came away with a solid 59-48 victory.
Yogi Ferrell led all scorers with 24 points and had 6 assists. Hollowell ended the game with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Tyler Fischl added 12 points and 7 rebounds for LC. Tyler Corley had 9 points as well.
