Lake Central
Head Coach: Dave Milausnic
Preview Summary:
Glenn Robinson, III had a monster AAU season. Robinson went from a good prospect to an elite level prospect. He is now ranked as the 38th best player in the 2012 class by scouthoops.com. Robinson won’t be carrying the team by himself though. Tyler Wideman (2014) had a great freshman year for Lake Central last year by averaging 11 points and 8 rebounds per game. Expect his numbers to increase this season as well.
The frontline will be solid as we detailed above, but who will be the 3rd option this season? Alex Ratic scored 9 points per game as a sophomore last year while shooting 41% from behind the arc. Tye Wilburn saw limited time as a freshman due to a knee injury that he has been battling for some time now. Wilburn reported to us that he is finally healthy and ready to have a good year.
Lake Central coach Dave Milausnic is expecting freshman Joe Bannister to play significant minutes at some point in the season. Milausnic also commented that Mike Miklusak has grown a couple of inches since last season and he could be their third option this season.
I don’t see scoring being a problem for Lake Central. The key to a deep run in the state tournament will be the point guard position. Will Bannister be able to step in as a freshman and handle the pressure? Will Wilburn be healthy and play at the level that he was capable of before injuries? If either of those answers is yes, expect Lake Central to be playing in late March.
