Recruiting Update: Anthony Johnson 3-29-13

It is looking more and more likely that Decatur Central's Anthony Johnson is going to qualify for D1 basketball next year. "We think he is on track to make it," said Decatur Central head coach Joe Preda. "I’m more optimistic now then I was a couple months ago when I talked to you, but he has done real well this semester so far."

With Johnson's academics looking better, his recruitment is starting to pick up even more. Indiana State's Greg Lansing was in to watch Johnson work-out last week. Johnson will take an unofficial to Indiana State on Monday. The Sycamores are not the only program interested in Johnson's services. Purdue is also showing interest. He will take an unofficial visit to Purdue on Tuesday.

Loyola (Ill.) and Long Island are also showing heavy interest, but Johnson may opt for a year at junior college even if he qualifies. Many schools have not had a chance to see Johnson in action so it would give him more recruiting exposure. Johnson is a high-major type of athlete. He is also a very good shooter and overall crafty scorer.
