Chris Palombizio Commits to Western Michigan

Chesterton's Chris Palombizio was offered a scholarship by Western Michigan on Friday. He wasted no time in committing to the Broncos. Palombizio also had an offer on the table from Eastern Illinois.

Palombizio took an unofficial visit to Western Michigan in early June. The visit made an impression on the 6-5 shooter. "I've always wanted to play in the MAC. I love the coaching staff, and I will fit great in their program," said Palombizio about his commitment.

Playing in the MAC is something that his father, Dan Palombizio, did at a high level. Dan averaged 26 points and 11 rebounds as a junior at Ball State. Now, Chris will be playing in the same conference as his father once dominated. It should be a great experience for Chris.

Palombizio is a shooter with good size. He has the ability to get his shot off without much space or time. Palombizio is 6-5 right now and should get a couple more inches before he is done growing. He has the ability to put the ball on the floor a little bit especially when the defense is out of position. Palombizio will rebound and is not afraid of being physical.

Palombizio will be a match-up nightmare if he gets to 6-7, 6-8 and can slide to the stretch 4 position. That would allow him to be more comfortable on the defensive end. He would struggle to defend wings at that level right now but he could get it done. There is little doubt that Palombizio gets to the 6-7 range though.

Western Michigan has Indiana natives Austin Richie (Lowell) and Leo Svete (Penn) on their current roster.
