Mack Mercer Picks Belmont

Plymouth's Mack Mercer announced that he has committed to Belmont University on Monday night. "I felt it was the best overall fit," said Mercer of why he committed. The 6-9 forward also had offers from Indiana State, Ball State, Boston College and St. Louis among others. In April, Mercer announced that Belmont, Indiana State and Boston College were his top three. Belmont was on Mercer very early in the process.

Mercer had a very good July for the Brian Keeton's Eric Gordon All-Star group. He performed really well against elite prospect Kevon Looney. That led to some interest from Michigan, Iowa and Northwestern. No scholarship offer materialized from the Big Ten schools though.

Mercer is a 6-9 power forward from Plymouth High School. He has the ability to stretch the floor with his outside shooting. He has a very pure stroke that will fit in perfectly with Belmont. He is a very skilled offensive player overall. Mercer has a nice touch from the block as well. He loves to spin baseline from the post.

Belmont recruits Indiana really well. Mercer will join Bloomington South's Spencer Turner and Penn's Jeff Laidig on the Belmont roster. Belmont launched their D1 program behind LaPorte's Steve Drabyn and Bremen's Adam Mark.
