Western Michigan Nabs Lowell Guard

It isn't very often that a high school player scores 50 points in a game. Austin Richie has that accomplishment under his belt and now you can add another. The Lowell sharpshooter committed to Western Michigan Tuesday as first reported by ESPN's Dave Telep. Richie averaged 27.7 ppg as a junior before really exploding on the recruiting scene spring/summer. He showed the ability to guard the elite D1 athlete during that time. Richie might not ever be an great defender, but he showed the physical ability to be at least average at the D1 level. With his shooting ability, that is something that almost any coach can live with.

Richie had offers from Drake, IUPUI, Loyola, Valpo, Portland, Bucknell, Holy Cross, UTEP, TCU, Louisiana Tech, and Appalachian State before deciding on Western Michigan.
