Yogi Officially to IU

Just three weeks ago, Yogi Ferrell said he was going to take his time and probably not make a college choice until next year. That changed rapidly, first he said that he would like to play with Cody Zeller in college. Then, he added that depending on where Zeller picked...that might speed up the process. Once Zeller committed to Indiana University it seemed like the writing was on the wall.

Ferrell denied that it was a done deal to commit to IU though. He came out with a top 6 via tweeter on November 13th that included Wake Forest, Florida, Butler, Virginia, Miami (FL), and Indiana. He eliminated Miami from contention about a week later.

Before tonight's Park Tudor against University, Ferrell made it official by announcing that he was committing to Indiana University. Coach Tom Crean was on hand to witness the announcement.

Indy Star writer Jeff Rabjohns reported Tuesday that Yogi Ferrell had in fact committed to Indiana University. Yogi, his family, coaches, and the IU fan base blasted Rabjohns for going with the story. It seemed like a given that he was going to committed to IU for most people involved. Yet, Rabjohns was accused of stealing Yogi's "moment" which I think is totally unfair to Rabjohns. He broke a story that ended up being true. It is hard to say that Rabjohns did any wrongdoing.

Ferrell joins Ron Patterson, Hanner Perea, and Peter Jurkin in the Hoosiers 2012 class. IU also has received commitments in the 2013 class from Collin Hartman and Devin Davis, jr. and in the 2014 class from Trey Lyles and James Blackmon, jr.
