Hollowell Decides

Jeremy Hollowell (2012), 6'7" small forward from Lawrence Central, announced his college decision Thursday afternoon. He narrowed his choices to Cincinnati, Indiana, Ohio State, and Purdue last week. Hollowell ended his recruiting by picking Indiana University after much debate.

Hollowell joins Yogi Ferrell, Ron Patterson, Hanner Perea, and Peter Jurkin in the 2012 recruiting class for Indiana. Most agree that the class ranks as the top in the nation early on. Indiana is still going after Gary Harris. The 6'4 shooting guard would take the class from one of the best in 2012 to one of the best of all-time. It is tough to make room for a 6 person recruiting class and then once they are on campus, it is even tougher to keep them happy. That is a problem most college coaches don't mind though.

Hollowell scouting reportHollowell is extremely long aka 6’11 wingspan. He is a good leaper although I don't know if he is a quick jumper in terms of multiple jumps in a short amount of time. His first step is very good for a player that is 6'7. Hollowell is also pretty good with his lateral quickness, but some of his defensive techniques could use some improvement. Strength needs to continue to develop, he is pretty thin right now. His handles are above average. He mostly depends on his right hand especially against pressure and when he is attacking the rim. Outside shooting is streaky, but it is one of his strong points. When he is hot, he will rattle off 5 or 6 3's in a quarter. His motor isn't always high and that has been a criticism that many have about Hollowell. He is a very stoic player so that makes people he is playing less hard than he is sometimes. Most young players need to learn how to play harder at all times though. That is part of the maturity process.
