Kellon Thomas Interview

Kellon Thomas has been one of the top players in the 2012 class since he started high school. The 5’11” point guard from Southport has a bunch of offers and many more interested in his services. We had a chance to speak to Kellon about his recruitment, his college decision and how his game is improving last week.

Here is what Kellon Thomas had to say to Indiana Basketball Source.

IBS: Can you list the offers that you have for us?

Kellon Thomas: “Georgia State, Loyola, IUPUI, IPFW, Gardner-Webb, Belmont, Morehead State and Austin Peay”

IBS: What schools have started to show interest as of late?

Kellon Thomas: “Tennessee, Wichita State, Wright State, Northern Kentucky, Murray State”

IBS: Are you going to any elite camps?

Kellon Thomas: “Yeah, I’m going to Wichita State. I’m going to Belmont, Tennessee and I think that’s it. I’m going to Wright State as well.”

IBS: Are you planning any other June visits?

Kellon Thomas: “I’m going down to Georgia State in a couple of weeks.”

IBS: Have you started to narrow your college list down at all?

Kellon Thomas: “Not really, I have had some schools become a lot more interested in me. So, I haven’t really started to narrow it down yet.”

IBS: Do you know what major program you would like to study in college?

Kellon Thomas: “I will probably major in something with business.”

IBS: Will location play a factor in your college decision?

Kellon Thomas: “No, that’s not a problem. I think I will go anywhere that I think is the right fit for me.”

IBS: Will level of play (i.e. high-major vs. mid-major vs. low-major) a role in your decision?

Kellon Thomas: “I just have to go somewhere that I know I will be able to play and it would be the best fit for me.”

IBS: You have been on a lot of visits in the past. Do any facilities or campuses stick out in your mind?

Kellon Thomas: “Wright State. They have great facilities. Belmont, I also liked their arena. I went to Tennessee a couple of years ago and their arena is great too.”

IBS: Can you give our readers an idea about your strengths as a player?

Kellon Thomas: “My strengths are that I can get to the basket. I’m probably stronger than most guards, most point guards that you will see. I can shoot it now. I used to be an average shooter and now I can really shoot it from where ever.”

IBS: Are you trying to improve any parts of your game this spring/summer?

Kellon Thomas: “Just my shooting really. I’ve been in the weight room a lot but shooting is probably the biggest thing for me.”
