Scott Heady landed two of his main 2018 recruits Tuesday. Tri-West's Tyler Watson and Morristown's Hayden Langkabel committed to Marian University.

Scott Heady wasted no time recruiting Tyler Watson and Hayden Langkabel when he took over the reins at Marian in the spring. It paid dividends as Watson and Langkabel committed early. Both players have the toughness that fits the style that Heady likes to play. They should be able to find immediate roles at Marian.

Watson proved himself as a shooter over the summer. His shooting off the dribble really took a step forward during the spring and summer. He's not going to blow by defenders in the Crossroads League, but he'll hit shots over opponents. Watson is also strong enough to overpower defenders at the next level. He should be a steady contributor for Scott Heady throughout his career.

Langkabel is a slasher and natural scorer. He tallied more than 700 points in his junior season at Morristown. He is always attacking off the dribble then finding ways to score. He's a very good vertical athlete. Langkabel keeps defenses honest with his outside shooting. There's a good chance that his shooting will progress at the next level. His mechanics are pretty good. Consistency from shot to shot is lacking for Langkabel right now.

With the addition of Watson and Langkabel, Marian will have backcourt depth for years to come. Freshman Sterling Brown had a strong exhibition game against Indiana in his first college appearance. Wes Stowers will be a senior by the time Watson and Langkabel arrive on campus. That is a set of guards that can win in the Crossroads League.
