On top of leading Alabama A&M in scoring as a freshman, he was also one of its best defenders. During the transition to college, it's rare for a freshman to be an impact defensive player. A&M had its defensive struggles, but Alford was one of the few bright spots on that end.
Since announcing his transfer, Alford has heard from IUPUI, Morehead State, Vincennes, and South Plains. Alford is open to all options at this point.
"I'm looking for somewhere where I'm comfortable and can really develop into an adult while developing on the court," Alford said of a possible destination.
Since he is only completing his freshman year, junior college is an option. There have been players that had success at a D1 then went to junior college to enhance their recruitment. That could be an option for Alford.
"It’s a possibility," said Alford of junior college. "I'm not turning away from anyone and keeping all options open."
In the upcoming days, there should be more D1 interest for Alford. He displayed the ability to score, get to the free throw line, distribute, and defend for Alabama A&M. If his shooting takes a step forward, Alford will be able to make an impact a much higher level.
