Recruiting Update: CJ Coleman

One of the most improved players that I have seen this season has been CJ Coleman.

Coleman is averaging just under 19 points per game this year. His Mount Vernon team is currently 12-0. They handed Hamilton Southeastern their only loss of the season.

“Getting in the weight room has improved every part of my game extremely,” Coleman said about what led to his more well-rounded game. His improvement has attracted some new college interest. He has no offers at this time, but Coleman is hearing from Stetson University frequently. Western Michigan, Loyola-Chicago, and Butler have called him, while Southern Illinois, Lamar, and Mississippi State have texted his high school coach, Steve Lynch. Coleman has set-up an unofficial visit to Southern Illinois.

Last AAU season, Coleman was one-dimensional as an outside shooter. During the high school season, he has been scoring on one or two dribble pull-ups in the half court at a high rate. He needs to continue to expand his game. To be a D1 player he will need to tighten up his handles, and show that he is quick enough on both ends of the floor to play at that level. {/iACL}
