The Forum Credit Union Tip Off Classic started with Park Tudor against Tri-West. Both teams entered the game with 4-0 records.
Junior wing Peyton Hendershot brought the energy and scoring punch to Tri-West from the tip. He scored nine points in the opening period. Hendershot's production led to an early lead for Tri-West.
Junior forward Jaren Jackson Jr. tried to pick up Park Tudor's energy in the second quarter with his defense. Jackson blocked five shots in the first half. It looked like his steal and dunk was going to turn the tide for Park Tudor. Tri-West continued to play well though and took a 23-17 lead into the locker room.
Jaren Jackson Jr. picked up his fourth foul early in the third quarter. Once Jackson went to the bench, Park Tudor went on a 14-0 run to take the lead, 31-30.
The run extended to 20-0 in the fourth quarter – all with Jackson on the bench.
Tri-West was in the bonus for the last ten minutes of the game. That helped the Bruins get out of the run. They scored seven straight points to make it 38-37, Park Tudor.
Tri-West sophomore guard Tyler Watson stepped up his game in the fourth quarter. He scored 18 points, many in the fourth quarter comeback attempt.
Jackson returned for the final three minutes of the game. He came up big with a block on Tyler Watson's driving lay-up attempt with just over a minute remaining. Sterling Sattferfield hit one of two free throws to puch Park Tudor's lead to 44-42.
Hendershot had a a chance to tie the game with a shot in the paint. He missed but was able to get the offensive rebound where he was fouled. He hit one of two in order to make it a one point game again.
Isaiah Rice hit two of two from the line on the other end for Park Tudor, 46-43. Satterfield saved the game with a block on a Tri-West three pointer.
Park Tudor escaped with the 48-46 victory.
