Fort Wayne Snider started its 2015-2016 season on Friday night against Fort Wayne Wayne. They started slowly and came back to win against Wayne. Brebeuf lost for the first this season last night against Lawrence North.
Snider clamped down on Brebeuf early in the game. The inside duo of Malik Williams and Devin Tennant controlled the action to begin the game. They combined to score all nine Snider points in the first quarter.
Brebeuf guards Kobie McNeal and Simon Banks jump started the offense in the second period. McNeal hit a shot right before the half to send the teams into the locker room tied at 20.
Outside of Williams and Tennant, Snider really struggled to score in the second half. They scored 16 points as a team in the second half. Brebeuf did a good job of keeping Snider out of the lane for most the game.
Senior post Matt Broderick was a major reason for that. He finished with 7 points and 10 rebounds in the game while going against Williams, Tennant and Li'Donta Hicks-Gentry.
Brebeuf's lead was cut to five points with over two minutes left in the game, but Snider came any closer than that. Brebeuf won 47-36.
Kobie McNeal 14 points, four assists, Simon Banks 9 points, Matt Broderick 7 points and 10 rebounds.
Malik Williams 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, Devin Tennant 10 points, Jordan Gorman 3 points, Li'Donta Hicks-Gentry 4 points, 5 rebounds.
