2018 post player Drake Thompson has posted some gaudy numbers this year and he wasted no time filling the stat sheet. By the time the first quarter ended, Thompson already had seven rebounds to go with his four points.
After a low scoring first period, the action picked up to some three point shooting in the second quarter. Ben Walters knocked down a couple triples for Blackhawk Christian while New Haven used a balanced attack. Marqis Stevenson knocked down a couple shots for New Haven. He led them with seven points in the first half.
New Haven led 24-18 at the half.
Joey Rowan had a big third quarter for New Haven. He had a four point play and a three point play in the period. His coring gave New Haven a 15 point cushion going to the final quarter.
After being in foul trouble in the first half and not finding a rhythm in the third quarter, Will Davidson picked up the pace to start the fourth quarter. He scored eight points in the first few minutes of the period, but Blackhawk was unable to cut into New Haven's lead during that time.
Rowan continued to play well for New Haven. His scoring kept New Haven's margin in tact despite Davidson's scoring in the fourth quarter.
