In a match-up of strong 4A teams, McCutcheon traveled to Logansport for a North Central Conference game. Logansport entered the game undefeated while McCutcheon's only losses on the season came at the hands of Lawrence Central and Lafayette Jeff.

2017 forward Jalen Adaway's outside shooting pushed Loganport to an early lead. The junior dominated the action on both ends of the court in the opening period. He scored eight points while blocking three shots and grabbing a couple of rebounds. His athleticism sent a message to McCutcheon players looking to score around the basket.

2018 point guard Robert Phinisee has a scholarship offer from Indiana. He started off the game not being able to get a shot to go down. He was just 1-7 from the field. The second quarter was dramatically different for the sophomore. With McCutcheon down 20-13, he scored eight of McCutcheon's 10 straight points. Phinisee scored 12 points in the period including a double pump shot at the buzzer to give the Mavericks a 29-27 lead at the half.

It was back and forth in the third with the Skaggs brothers stepping for for Logansport. Sam Skaggs hit a deep three pointer sandwiched by putbacks from Jack Skaggs. Phinisee continued to score with efficiency and Eddy Collins stepping up with a couple of triples for McCutcheon. It was all tied going to the final quarter.

Darnell Butler came up big early in the fourth quarter for McCutcheon. He scored eight key points to give the Mavericks control of the game. He ended up tallying 13 of his 15 points in the final quarter. Phinisee added seven in the period. A quarter that McCutcheon scored 27 points on its way to running away with the game.

Jalen Adaway tried to keep Logansport in the game during the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough. Adaway scored 11 points including three three pointers. He finished the game with 29 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

McCutcheon won 70-55. It was the 500th career victory for Rick Peckinpaugh's career.

Robert Phinisee finished with 30 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Darnell Butler added 15 while Eddy Collins had nine.

Matt Jennings had 15 points in the loss.
