Kyle Guy of Lawrence Central was named to the 2016 McDonald's All-American game. He is the lone Indiana representative on the prestigious roster this year. Here is a closer look at his selection.
Kyle Guy's national stature has been on the rise over the last two years. Guy was a target of the high-major programs around the Midwest from his freshman year on, but he started to turn national heads between his sophomore and junior seasons. During that time, he played up a year with the 2015 Indiana Elite team that featured the likes of Purdue's Ryan Cline & Grant Weatherford, Hyron Edwards, Josh Speidel and a number of others. Guy was a key member of that team as a shot maker on the perimeter and a playmaker with the ball in his hands.
Guy continued to play well on the national scene at events like the adidas Nations. That kept him prevalent among the McDonald's All-American voters. He is having a great senior season for Lawrence Central as well. He's scoring 25 points per game on 48% shooting from three point range while Lawrence Central has won at a high level.
Guy is the only Indiana high school player on the McDonald's roster this year. Indiana has had a representative on the every year since 2010. Since 2000, Indiana has a representative on the team except in 2003, 2004 and 2009. That is a great track record for a state of Indiana's size.
