In the first semifinal game of the Indianapolis City Tournament, Indianapolis Howe took on Cathedral. It was a tale of two halves on Saturday night. Here's how it developed.

Senior guard Brian 'Kip' Warren set the tone early for Howe. Warren scored 13 points in the opening period. He did more than score for Howe though. He also had three assists in the opening quarter. Warren's play helped Howe begin the game with a 13-2 lead.

Morehead State signee Jordan Walker was the most productive Cathedral player early in the game. He scored seven points in the first quarter to keep Cathedral within striking distance.

The game dynamics changed a bit in the second quarter. Cathedral's defense stepped up especially on Warren. The Howe senior did not make a shot from the field in the period. He did score three points from the line. The Cathedral defense also forced four turnovers in the quarter.

Howe still led 32-24 at halftime.

Howe extended the lead early in the second half. It was 38-24 in Howe's advantage after a Warren dunk in transition.

Cathedral chipped away at the deficit from there. Eron Gordon and Walker were the catalysts for Cathedral's comeback. They combined for 18 points in the period. Howe was only up one point heading into the fourth quarter.

The game continued to be played at a breakneck pace. The lead switched hands seemingly every possession for the first five minutes of the final period.

Cathedral's role players stepped up in a major way. The Irish received big fourth quarter contributions from Tra Landers, Jarron Coleman and Danny Goggans. Landers scored nine of his 11 points in the fourth. Coleman tallied seven of his 11 in the quarter. Goggans biggest impact was on the glass. He pulled down six rebounds in the final period.

Warren wouldn't let his Howe team go quietly into the night though. He scored nine points in the deciding quarter. Unfortunately for Warren and Howe, the senior guard fouled out with 90 seconds to play. Warren finished with a game-high 34 points.

Cathedral pulled away late with stops and free throws to win 81-73. Jordan Walker finished with 21 points while Eron Gordon added 19.

Freshman Kycia Washington played well for Howe. He finished with 17 points in the loss. He did a good job of attacking the basket. Sophomore Tony Hopkins had eight points in the losing effort.
