In the second game of the Indianapolis City Tournament, Indianapolis Tech faced off with Crispus Attucks. The pace was ferocious from the start. Tech advanced to the championship game with the 79-63 victory.
Turnovers dominated the first quarter of action. The energy and effort of both teams were excellent. It led to rushed passes and questionable decisions early in the game though. Florida State signee C.J. Walker was able to get Tech under control. He had a vicious dunk down the middle of the lane in the opening quarter. Walker tallied 10 points to give Tech the 13-8 lead after one period.
Attucks played better in the second quarter. Nike Sibande was able to convert a couple baskets. Sibande made his biggest impact on the game with his rebounding. Sibande is a wing, but he rebounded with toughness throughout the game. He finished with 16 rebounds.
Tech finished the half well to take a 31-19 lead into the locker room. After intermission, Tech continued to expand the lead. It was Walker, Chris King and Samir Hayes leading the way. Tech's lead reached 19 points midway through the third quarter.
Attucks never gave up though. Dorian Moore splashed a couple three pointers to bring Attucks within 55-43 with over five minutes left in the game. Attucks was unable to get over the hump to really make it a game late.
Mario Nalls and Chris King made sure that Tech would keep its lead. They each scored nine points in the fourth quarter to seal the game for Tech.
Tech won 79-63. CJ Walker and Mario Nalls each had 20 points while King finished with 18. Dorian Moore finished with 18 to lead Attucks. Nike Sibande finished with 14 points and 16 rebounds in the loss.
Tech will face Cathedral in the Indianapolis City Tournament championship game on Monday at Arsenal Tech.
