Cathedral made the trek north on Interstate 65 on Friday evening to take on Bowman Academy. Both teams were looking to get on track. The Irish won seven straight games from late December to late January. Cathedral had lost its last two games heading into Friday's match-up though. Bowman is a top contender in 2A but were losers of two of three games of late.

From the start, both teams were willing to play at a fast pace. 2017 point guard Tra Landers did an excellent job of handling the Bowman pressure and attacking the basket in the first period. He was able to beat his defender on a consistent basis.

Landers forced the defense to constantly rotate to stop him. That left shooters like Jarron Coleman open throughout the game. Coleman delivered in a large way for Cathedral. He hit two three-pointers in the open quarter and scored 13 points in the first half.

Bowman worked its offense through senior forward Avery Edwards in the first period. He had decent success as he scored eight points. Cathedral was able to shut him down the rest of the game as Edwards finished with 10 points.

It was a close game throughout much of the first half. Bowman used a deep bench and balanced scoring to stay within Cathedral. The Irish were up four points at halftime.

Morehead State signee Jordan Walker only scored three points in the first half. He wasted no time changing that in the second half. Walker knocked down four three-pointers in the opening minutes of the second half. His shooting pushed the Cathedral lead from four to 15 points in just a few possessions.

Much like Walker, Western Michigan signee Brandon Johnson was held to five points in the first half. Johnson was able to break free for eight points in the third quarter. Unfortunately for Bowman, the team only scored 10 points in the period.

Cathedral stretched its lead to 20 points in the fourth quarter. To Bowman's credit, the Eagles cut the deficit to 10 points with a few minutes to play. Turnovers troubled Cathedral in the final period. Unofficially, the Irish had eight turnovers in the quarter. Those turnovers gave Bowman a chance to get back into the game although they were unable complete the comeback.

Sophomore Jarron Coleman led Cathedral with 27 points off the bench. Jordan Walker tallied 18 points while Tra Landers finished with eight points. Bowman was led by Brandon Johnson's 16 points with Montrell Barfield adding 15 in the loss.

Cathedral moved to 11-5 on the season with the victory while Bowman Academy dropped to 9-7.
