South Bend Washington entered sectional play on a 10 game winning streak. The Panthers continued their strong play on Wednesday night by defeating South Bend Adams 65-52.
It took a few minutes for the Washington offense to click on Wednesday night. The seniors Bryant Givens, Lorenzo Glass, and Anthony Brazier found their rhythm midway through the first quarter. They lead Washington to a spurt of 15 points that swung the game in their favor.
The third quarter featured a duel between Washington's Anthony Brazier and Adams' Brandon Wadley. Each took turns getting to the basket while mixing in a couple outside shots as well. After the dust settled, Brazier and Wadley each scored 11 points in the eight minute frame. Each missed one shot in the quarter. It was fun to watch them go back and forth.
Outside of Wadley, Adams struggled to score consistently against Washington's defense. Sophomore Walter Ellis was able to knock down three three-pointers in the second half, but he didn't put pressure on the defense for much of the game. Michael Green scored seven points in the first quarter but went cold after that.
Washington cruised to the 65-52 victory. Lorenzo Glass led the Panthers with 19 points. Anthony Brazier contributed 18 points to the win. Bryant Givens added 15 points and five assists. Kaylen Andrews had eight points and eight rebounds.
