Westview was the surprise participant of the North Judson Regional. Westview plays five freshmen in its rotation. The Warriors were only 11-11 in the regular season but nine of the losses were close. Canterbury played a strong schedule throughout the regular season. They were preparing for the postseason and it has paid off.
Senior forward Tanner Camp set the tone right from the start. He scored twice in the opening minutes to get Canterbury off to a good start. The tempo was fast to begin the game. Senior Andrew Yoder played really well in the first quarter. He scored nine points in the opening period.
Canterbury created a little bit of separation in the second quarter. Camp continued to play well and Nathan White converted a couple of shots to propel Canterbury forward. Westview struggled to score in the second quarter. Nick Rensberger was the exception for the Warriors. He scored six points in the stanza.
The game stayed close until the fourth quarter. Canterbury started to pull away in the fourth period. Canterbury's leading scorer Jalen Paul stepped up in the final quarter after being quiet for three periods. He scored eight in the period. Camp was the steady force for Canterbury. He made it tough for Westview to score in the paint.
Canterbury cruised to a 54-41 victory with Tanner Camp leading the way. He scored 19 points to lead all players. Camp also had eight rebounds and four blocks. Andrew Yoder finished with 17 points for Westview. Cody Collyer had 10 points.
Canterbury will play Bishop Noll in the final Saturday night.
