Griffith's team bus crashed on its way to the Lafayette Jeff 3A semi-state on Saturday. The crash resulted in the team bus flipping upside down. Luckily, no one had life-threatening injuries in the crash. The game did need to be delayed, though. Here is more on the situation.
In a rare and scary situation, the semi-state game was postponed on Saturday. Griffith assistant coach David Garrett was taken to a local hospital then airlifted to Chicago for further treatment. He is now in stable condition. Most of the Griffith players were treated for minor injuries at local hospitals.
Originally, IHSAA commissioner Bobby Cox said that the makeup game needed to be played Monday or Tuesday to keep everything on schedule for the state tournament next weekend. Marion and Griffith reached a compromise of playing the game on Wednesday. It will be at 6 p.m. eastern time at Lafayette Jeff on Wednesday.
The winner of the game will face Evansville Bosse after they defeated Tri-West in double overtime of the 3A south semi-state.
