Lawrence Central used 22 points from Kyle Guy and late free throws by Mehki Biffle to defeat Lawrence North 63-62 on Wednesday. It was a stellar early season game between two teams that have high hopes for the 2015-2016 season.
Two traditional state football powers met Tuesday night on the hardwood as Warren Central traveled to Cathedral. Warren Central would make the trip without starting point guard Bishop Smith, who was out due to an illness.
Both Hamilton Heights and Guerin Catholic had successful seasons in 2014-2015. Hamilton Heights won a sectional title before falling in the regional semis, while Guerin Catholic capped off the year in style, winning the 3A state championship over Griffith. Gone, however, are Hamilton Heights talented senior class from a year ago, and Guerin Catholic has to move on from the graduation of Indiana All-Star Matt Holba. These new look Hamilton County rivals squared off Friday night hoping to find out more about themselves and earn bragging rights as well.
