The Christmas break provides Indiana high school basketball fans a chance to see many high-quality teams face off in tournament play. We're taking a look at some of the better events taking place in the state the next two weeks and forecasting what's in store.
Marion Classic (Thursday, December 22)
Top Teams: Oak Hill, Northeastern, East Chicago Central, NorthWood, FW North Side, McCutcheon, Merrillville, FW Snider, Lawrence North, Mt. Vernon, Marion

Not a tournament, but rather a one-day collection of games taking place at Bill Green Arena in Marion. The matchup of the day is the Merrillville vs. McCutcheon contest at 5:00pm. A great collection of guards with Johnny Bernard, Jonah Jackson, and Cam Wilbon taking on Robert Phinisee, Eddy Collins, and Haden Deaton. Another game to watch out for is FW Snider facing Lawrence North. Snider dispatched FW North Side last weekend, which handled Lawrence North rather easily two weeks ago.
Indianapolis Manual Shootout (Friday, December 23)
Top Teams: Howe, Tindley, FW North Side, Terre Haute South, Warren Central, North Central, Ben Davis, Manual
Top Players: Tony Hopkins, Eric Hunter, Keion Brooks, Jaylen Butz, Juan Quarles, Davontae Kinnie,Jaylen Minnett, De'Avion Washington, Mack Smith, David Bell, Kris Wilkes, Mateo Rivera, Emmanuel Little, Josh Brewer, Aaron Henry, Courvoisier McCauley
Another one day Shootout with several out of state teams traveling down to the Circle City. Lots of great matchups on tap, but two in particular stand out. Tindley and standout junior guard Eric Hunter have to find a way to deal with FW North Side's frontcourt of Keion Brooks and Jaylen Butz. The Legends in turn need to find someone to contain Hunter, one of the state's best scoring guards. The next game pits two top flight small forwards head to head with Terrence Lewis (Iowa State) of Milwaukee Riverside facing off against UCLA-bound Kris Wilkes and North Central.
Summit Athletic Conference Tournament (December 26-29)
Top Teams: Snider, North Side, Homestead, Carroll, Bishop Dwenger, Bishop Luers
Top Players: Malik Williams, Jordan Gorman, Keion Brooks, Jaylen Butz, Jack Ferguson, Parker Manges, Brandon Durnell, Jacob Redding, Arius Jones, Dan McKeeman, Campbell Donovan, Hayden Smithey, Trejean Didier, Anton Berry, Ray Walker, Richard Robertson
Taking place at Wayne High School, the SAC Tournament is a prime destination for basketball fans in northeast Indiana. North Side and Homestead are the top two seeds, but there are five or six schools that have realistic visions of cutting down the nets. A potential rematch of the Snider-North Side game that went to overtime last Friday would not take place until the final, should both teams make it that far.
Wabash Valley Classic (December 26-29)
Top Teams: Terre Haute South, Terre Haute North, Linton-Stockton, Northview, Edgewood, West Vigo, Rockville
Top Players: Jaylen Minnett, De'Avion Washington, Cooper Neese, Jalen Moore, Lance Hopkins, Landon Newnum, Josh Dieball, Austin Sappingfield
The host school, Terre Haute South, looks to be the favorite heading into this 16 team tournament. Behind IUPUI signee Jaylen Minnett at point guard and junior De'Avion Washington on the wing, the Braves are the most explosive offensive team in the bracket. An interesting first round matchup pits Linton-Stockton and do everything guard Josh Dieball and crew up against Cloverdale with Butler signee Cooper Neese and point guard Jalen Moore.
Noblesville Tournament (December 27-28)
Top Teams: Fishers, Bloomington South, Chesterton, Noblesville, Crown Point
Top Players: Jamil Turner-Hall, Willie Jackson, JT Counts, Chance Coyle, Josh Hall, Phillip King, Max Flinchum, Austin Peterson, Sasha Stefanovic, Andrew Kenneally
Eight teams face off in this two-day event, with the favorites likely being the Bulldogs from Crown Point. Sasha Stefanovic and company have the guard play as well as an inside game to be a complete basketball team. Fishers and Chesterton certainly have the horses to make a run at taking home this event with the collection of shooters each team can put on the floor.
Columbia City/Huntington Holiday Hoops Tournament (December 29-30)
Top Teams: Huntington North, Hamilton Southeastern, Merrillville, Valparaiso
Top Players: Sydney Curry, Hunter Hollowell, Zach Gunn, Aaron Etherington, Noah Smith, Mileek McMillan, Johnny Bernard, Cameron Wilbon, Trace Ramsey, Jay Bisacky
The first day is split between Columbia City High School and Huntington North, and consists of four pools of three teams each. The second day is at Huntington North and Huntington University, with the respective finishers in each pool facing off against each other. Hamilton Southeastern and Merrillville have the most complete teams in the field, but teams like Horizon Christian with Sydney Curry, Huntington North with Hunter Hollowell, and Valpo with Trace Ramsey all can vie for the title.
Hall of Fame Tournament (December 30)
Top Teams: Logansport, New Albany, Warsaw, Lawrence North
Top Players: Jalen Adaway, Matt Jennings, Hunter DeHaven, Romeo Langford, Isaac Hibbard, Julien Hunter, Kyle Mangas, Kevin Easley, Ra Kpedi, Antwaan Cushingberry
One of the most prestigious tournaments to win in the entire state, the Hall of Fame Tournament at New Castle represents one of the best days of hoops in Indiana. The four teams in this year's event have no shortage of star power. Logansport brings in high-flying wing Jalen Adaway and Grace signee Matt Jennings at point guard. New Albany has one of the best juniors in America in Romeo Langford, hoping to repeat his 40-point performance in New Castle against LaLumiere. Warsaw made it to Semistate last year behind senior guard Kyle Mangas and a suffocating defense. Lawrence North has a stockpile of talent in juniors Kevin Easley and Antwaan Cushingberry, as well as one of the best unsigned players in the state in Ra Kpedi.
