It has been a busy few days for the five-star recruit, Romeo Langford. Tuesday night, he played every second of an overtime game against #2 Carmel. He poured in 28 points, five of them coming in the final 29 seconds of the game. The Bulldogs won 55-52. Wednesday night, Romeo attended the Louisville vs Kentucky game at the KFC Yum Center. Finally, Thursday night, New Albany hosted #3 in 3A Evansville Bosse (6-1).
The night began with Romeo being honored by Chad Hunter for surpassing him as the all-time leading scorer in New Albany history. However, Romeo got off to a sluggish start only scoring five points in the opening period. With 45 seconds left in the first period, Romeo drew an offensive foul. The next play led to a Romeo missed the shot, which he chased down for an offensive rebound and dunk plus the foul.
A rough shooting start for Romeo tonight but he used the free throw line instead. He scored seven of his 12 first half points at the free throw line.
The second half was a different story. Romeo hit four three-pointers in the 3rd period, including a four-point play at the 7:06 mark. He later had a sequence of a three-pointer followed by a steal which led to a one-hand jam. Romeo finished with 15 points in the third period.
After an explosive 3rd quarter, Langford had 6 in the final period. A very physical game finished with Romeo having 34 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Langford scored 12 of his 34 from the free throw line and 15 in the third quarter alone.
New Albany will play December 30th at the Hall of Fame tournament in New Castle, Indiana against Warsaw at 12:45 pm.
