The Manual Extravaganza featured 10 games on Friday. Here's a recap of the final four games of the event.
North Central jumped all over Milwaukee Riverside from the tip. Kris Wilkes set the tone with his all-around play. He had his outside working but also made hustle plays and scored in transition. Emmanuel Little continued to play at a high level. His perimeter shooting has taken his game to a new level. Overall, the three-point shooting of North Central has been a surprise this year. The Panthers hit 15 three-pointers against Riverside.
Riverside was led by Iowa State-signee Terrence Lewis. He finished with 18 points. His biggest highlight was a tip dunk over the top of Little.
North Central won 90-49.
Kevin Easley was hot to start the game against Detroit Jesuit. He had his shot working from start to finish. Easley finished the game with 32 points to lead Lawrence North.
Jesuit was led by Zachary Winston. The brother of Cassius Winston was on fire from three-point range throughout the game. His biggest shot came with 6.4 seconds left when he hit a three-pointer to tie the game. He finished with 20 points.
Mike Saunders Jr. proved to be a fourth quarter player once again. The freshman guard hit a three-pointer to put Lawrence North up three points with 18 seconds remaining. It was offset by Winston’s shot a dozen seconds later.
Lawrence North was able to pull out the victory in overtime with Antwaan Cushingberry and Easley leading the way.
The shooting of North Central was impressive. Ben Davis made that look pedestrian in the first half against Kenwood. It was Jalen Newsom that was the star early. He scored 20 points on six three-pointers in the first half. He finished 6-8 from behind the arc. As a team, Ben Davis went 11-27 from three-point range.
2018 wing Aaron Henry was fantastic as well. He was unstoppable from all areas on the court. Henry ended with 20 points on 8-10 shooting. He had a few really nice passes that led to baskets as well. Henry has been playing well this season.
Antonio Reeves was the bright spot for Kenwood. He had five three-pointers on his way to 17 points.
Indianapolis Manual has been playing great to start the year. The offense is clicking on all cylinders to begin the year. Manual had a strong offensive performance against Luers on Friday night. Early in the game, Jalen Johnson was finishing around the basket on putbacks and drop offs. He scored 11 of his 17 points in the first quarter.
Luers hung with Manual thanks to the play of Anton Berry and Ray Walker. Berry was aggressive throughout the game. He scored 15 points on his way to a game-high 33 points. Berry grabbed 12 rebounds as well.
Walker slashed to the basket with little resistance. He scored 18 points in the loss. Walker had four steals as well.
Manual pulled away for the 79-66 victory. Manual is now 7-1 on the season.
