The Bob Wettig Memorial Tournament concluded on Thursday at Richmond High School. Here's a recap of the action.
South Bend Adams 84, Tindley 83 in overtime
The championship game of the Bob Wettig Tournament came down to the final possession…a couple of times. Tindley, behind Eric Hunter and Hunter White, made a comeback late in regulation to force overtime. The Hunters were fantastic in the second half. Eric Hunter finished with 35 points and nine rebounds while Hunter White compiled 26 points and eight rebounds.
In overtime, Tindley grabbed an early lead. Michael Green wiped the deficit away with help from Walter Ellis. Green lived at the free throw line in the fourth quarter and overtime. Green was 11-11 from the line in the game.
Adams had a two-point lead with 14 seconds left when Hunter White made a cut to the basket for a layup. Green answered right back by going the length of the court for a layup. Tindley was able to get a timeout after the score but did not get a good shot off with just 1.6 seconds remaining.
Michael Green and Walter Ellis each finished with 21 points. Ellis added 12 rebounds.
Park Tudor 65, Richmond 50
Michael Shelton, Park Tudor’s coach, tried to send some messages by not starting his normal lineup on Thursday. Kobe Webster, Isiah Moore, Isaiah Rice and company watched the first few minutes of the game on the bench. The normal reserves actually built a small lead before the regular starters entered.
It was a close game throughout before Park Tudor pulled away late. Kobe Webster was a major reason why Park Tudor won going away. He scored seven points in the final quarter on his way to 18 points on 7-11 shooting.
Park Tudor did a good job of containing 2018 guard Christian Harvey. The Richmond guard was averaging 30 points in the tournament before Park Tudor held him to 13 points.
Franklin Central 69, Bedford North Lawrence 64
Senior forward Grant Pedigo did a little bit of everything for Franklin Central. He was aggressive early and got the Flashes on track immediately. Pedigo finished with 17 points, five rebounds and three assists.
Jake Cerbone was locked in from three-point range all night. He led Franklin Central with 18 points with 12 coming from three-point range.
Speaking of shooting, Jathan Ritter provided much of the outside firepower for Bedford. He hit six threes for 18 points. Isiah Stockman had a strong second half for Bedford. He scored 10 points and had eight rebounds in the game.
McCall Ray and Brayton Bailey combined for 27 points but shot just 9-27 from the field.
