The Marion County Tournament quarterfinals featured a couple of rematches from the weekend. Warren Central-Lawrence North, Roncalli-Beech Grove and Ben Davis-North Central all played each other on Friday. Ben Davis was looking to defeat the top team in Indiana, North Central, after leading for a large chunk of the game Friday.

The Emmanuel Little Show, which has been airing all season for North Central, had a slow start against Ben Davis. Little didn’t get his first points until the midway point of the first quarter. He finished the first period with five points. He exploded after that. Little tallied 13 points in the second quarter. His shooting has been incredible all season and it continued on Wednesday night.

Little’s play didn’t push North Central to a big first half lead, though. 2018 wing Aaron Henry and 2017 point guard Datrion Harper helped answer every punch that Little and North Central delivered in the first 16 minutes.

The third quarter decided the game as North Central tighten the screws to Ben Davis. North Central outscored Ben Davis 20-9 in the frame. Ty’Riek Johnson and Little scored 15 of North Central’s 20 points. Ben Davis committed a handful of turnovers in the quarter.

The game was iced when North Central worked to melt 90 seconds off the clock late in the fourth quarter. The possession ended a Panthers player drove the lane then dumped a pass off to Emmanuel Little for an emphatic dunk. The play put North Central up 14 with 1:30 left in the game.

North Central won going away, 70-59. Emmanuel Little continues to put up insane numbers. He had 29 points and eight rebounds. Mateo Rivera had 14 points and eight assists. Ty’Riek Johnson added 12 points. Kris Wilkes had five points and six rebounds.

Ben Davis was led by Josh Brewer’s 19 points. Aaron Henry and Datrion Harper each had 14 points in the loss.

North Central plays Warren Central in the semifinal of the Marion County Tournament Friday at Southport High School. The other semi is Roncalli against Pike.
