The New Albany Bulldogs (10-2) hosted Madison (5-7) last night in a Hoosier Hills Conference battle. The Cubs have only defeated the Bulldogs three times in their 33 meetings. Duke assistant coaches Jon Scheyer and Nolan Smith were in attendance for 5-star Romeo Langford, who holds an offer from Duke.
New Albany came out of the gates in a full-court run and jump press that gave Madison all they could handle. Madison scored on their first two possessions of the game and from that point on, it was all Bulldogs. Romeo Langford paced New Albany with 18 first quarter points, including a pull-up three pointer from one step inside half-court at the buzzer.
Isaac Hibbard came alive in the 2nd quarter with a couple of three-point shots along with a few drives for and-ones. If there was one bright spot for Madison, it was senior, Daniel Anderson. He tallied 17 in the first half and 12 in the 2nd quarter alone. Sean East beat the halftime buzzer with a ¾ court heave to make the score 63-25. Langford had 31 in the first half.
The Bulldogs never took their foot off the gas in this one. A sharply played game led to extra passes and wide open jumpers or driving lanes all night. This helped Hibbard, East, and Blake Murphy find their stroke. Those three combined for 8 three-pointers in the game.
New Albany won their seventh straight game with a 103-50 win over Madison. Romeo Langford led all scorers with 43 points. Isaac Hibbard with 26. Sean East continued his good play with 15 and Blake Murphy with 10. Daniel Anderson finished with 26 for Madison.
New Albany will travel to Scottsburg tonight.
