Plainfield’s second half offensive explosion led the Quakers to a victory over Northview on Saturday evening.
Neither team was able to find its shooting rhythm in the first half. Both teams shot extremely low percentages from the field in the opening half. It was Northview that was able to get a few more opportunities at the basket and open looks from three-point range, though. Dylan Hyatt was penetrating the Plainfield defense on a regular basis. He scored eight points by intermission, Northview held a 26-22 advantage.
Gavin Bizeau was a little more aggressive in the second half. He scored eight points in the third quarter after having eight points in the first half. Trey Davis joined the mix as he started to find his shooting stroke in the second half. Those two things led to 25 points in the third quarter for Plainfield.
Northview stepped up its offensive game in the second half as well. It took them a little bit longer to get clicking, though. Brigham Booe scored eight of his 17 points in the fourth quarter. Hyatt scored nine of his 22 in the final period.
It was junior Gavin Bizeau that was the difference in the game. Bizeau impacted the game in all areas. He protected the paint with six blocked shots. He rebounded at a high level as he finished with 15 rebounds. He was always looking for his open teammates. He scored 11 points in the fourth to seal the victory for Plainfield.
Plainfield won 72-61. Bizeau ended the game with 26 points, 15 rebounds, six blocks and five assists. Trey Davis added 22 points in the win. Dylan Hyatt led Northview with 22 points. Brigham Booe added 17.
