Indianapolis Manual was ready for its opening game of the Indianapolis City Tournament against Broad Ripple. Manual received a double bye to the quarterfinals with their play to this point in the season. Broad Ripple beat Heritage Christian on Tuesday to get to Manual.

The pace was frantic early in the game. That’s the way that Manual likes to play. They average well over 80 points per game for the season. Broad Ripple’s Caleb Brown was the scoring threat for the Rockets early. He scored seven points in the opening quarter. Manual had a balanced attack with sophomore Jalen Johnson scoring six points and seniors Courvoisier McCauley and Cameron Sembly scored five and six, respectively.

Turnovers were mounting from the start for Broad Ripple. The Rockets were able to overcome the errors for a quarter. They were still within striking distance at the half. The wheels finally fell off in the second half. Manual was able to get extra opportunities at a high rate.

Courvoisier McCauley has been score 30 points per game this season. Thursday night was not his most efficient offensive game but he asserted himself in the mix in the second half. McCauley was in the passing lanes all night as well. He had seven steals. His play in the third quarter led to an insurmountable lead for Manual. McCauley finished with 26 points.

Manual ran away with the 75-58 victory. Manual will play Crispus Attucks in the Indianapolis City Tournament on Saturday at Indianapolis Tech.
