Kokomo extended its winning streak to four games with a win over Indianapolis Tech on Thursday evening.
The Wildkats wasted no time jumping on the hosts. Senior Ty Sparling and junior Anthony Barnard led Kokomo to a 7-0 advantage to begin the game. Despite Tech staying within striking distance for most of the game, there were no ties or lead changes in the course of the game.
Kokomo was able to get opportunities around the basket all night then sprinkled in a couple outside shots. That enabled the Wildkats to have a 61% effective field goal percentage for the game. That type of efficiency will win most games.
The bright spot for Tech was the play of senior Ernest Myles. He was steady throughout the game for the Titans. He finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds in the loss. He was excellent around the basket on the offensive end and brought toughness to Tech on the glass.
Barnard and Keenen Wheeler were strong in the second half for Kokomo. Barnard finished with 22 points and five rebounds. Wheeler scored 14 points in the victory.
Kokomo won 71-57. The Wildkats are now 12-6. Tech drops to 4-10.
