International faced University on Tuesday night without star sophomore Mawich Kachjaani. International stayed with University for three quarters. Here’s the breakdown.
International found strange ways to score early and often. Jacob Vigran was able to bank in a couple of three-pointers in the first half. With the help of those bank shots, International was able to shoot 100% (in terms of effective field goal percentage) in the first half.
University was able to force International to turn the ball over on 41% of its possessions in the first half. That was the main problem for International all game. International finished with 17 turnovers in a 45 possession game.
David Howard provided a steady presence on both ends of the court for University. He tallied 14 points in the low-possession game. He also had a bevy of assists, blocks and rebounds. It was Foster Flamion that led University in scoring thanks to his free throw shooting down the stretch. Flamion finished with 15 points.
University took a three-point lead into the fourth quarter after International led by three at halftime. University used a 15-0 run from late in the third quarter to midway through the fourth to put the game out of reach. Josh Watson and Zach Hodgin were big during that run for University.
University won going away, 56-44. Jacob Vigran led all scorers with 19 points in the loss. Jonathan Sanyon slashed his way to 16 points for International as well.
