Lawrence North faced Ben Davis without Jack Keefer on the sidelines or Kevin Easley, Ra Kpedi, Antwaan Cushingberry and Dexter Shouse in the lineup. It was an uphill battle for Lawrence North against a tough Ben Davis team.

Lawrence North came out with extra energy to begin the game. In addition to the energy, the Wildcats were hitting shots. They jumped out to a 12-7 lead. Ben Davis sophomore Jalen Windham was able to get the Giants on track with his shooting. He knocked down a couple of three-pointers plus three free throws after being fouled on a long-range shot.

Lawrence North remained aggressive in the second quarter but came up empty on more possessions. Ben Davis took advantage of Lawrence North’s lack of size by attacking the paint. Josh Brewer and Aaron Henry were able to convert with ease without Ra Kpedi and Kevin Easley challenging their shots. Brewer and Henry were 7-10 from the field in the first half.

Ben Davis began to pull away at the end of the first. Senior guard Jalen Newsom pushed the lead out of Lawrence North’s reach with his three-point shooting to start the third quarter. He rained three triples in the first few minutes of the second half. The Ben Davis lead went from nine points at halftime to 20 quickly.

The lead reached 24 points for Ben Davis. The short-handed Wildcats fought hard late to keep the game respectable. With the Ben Davis starters on the bench, Lawrence North was able to go on a 13-0 run late in the game to cut the deficit to 11 points.

Ben Davis held on for the 72-56 victory. Aaron Henry led a balanced attack for Ben Davis with 14 points and seven rebounds. Jalen Newsom and Jalen Windham each had 12 points. The duo of Jalen knocked down seven three-pointers in the game. Josh Brewer had 10 points while Datrion Harper scored eight and RJ Turner added seven.

Jared Hankins had a game-high 18 points. Freshman Tony Perkins scored 13 and Dalen Davis added 12.
