Brownsburg traveled to Plainfield looking to build off of wins against Southport and Indianapolis Manual last week.
Plainfield opened the game in a zone defense and Brownsburg was ready for it. Cameron Alford and Landon Hall normally don’t look for their outside shots too often. The duo looked for spots to stretch the Plainfield defense early on, though.
The Plainfield offense came from Trey Davis and Gavin Bizeau. They were the only Quakers that were able to score in the first half. Davis and Bizeau scored nine points in the first quarter but only tallied five in the second quarter.
With Plainfield’s offense stalling, Brownsburg was able to dissect the zone with Cameron Alford operating in the middle. Alford said that he has been playing in the middle of zones since he was a little kid. He was making great passes plus Alford balanced looking for his shot in with the passing.
Brownsburg led by 12 at halftime then built a 20-point lead going to the fourth quarter. Junior center Kyle Wolf made plays on both ends of the floor for Brownsburg. He made things tough on Gavin Bizeau then finished over and through defenders on the offensive end. Antrez Baker and Wolf used their strength advantage to keep Bizeau out of the paint all night.
Plainfield opened the fourth quarter on a 7-0 run to make it a 13-point game. That was the closest that the Quakers would get. Brownsburg coasted to a 62-44 victory.
Cameron Alford finished with 18 points. Landon Hall added 16 points and Kyle Wolf had 10 points. Gavin Bizeau led Plainfield with 13 points. Trey Davis added 12.
Brownsburg is now 14-5 with games against Hamilton Southeastern and Center Grove left on the schedule. Plainfield dropped to 13-7 with three games remaining on the regular season schedule.
