Tuesday night marked the opening night of the 2017 Marion County Tournament. One of the most intriguing match-ups in the first round pitted a gritty Lawrence Central team against the undefeated Warriors of Warren Central. Behind the shooting of senior guard Mack Smith and some timely baskets down the stretch, Warren Central advanced to the quarterfinals.
The Marion County Tournament tipped off Tuesday night evening with Franklin Central travelling to Beech Grove. It was poised to be a good game since both teams have been playing well this season.

Warren Central came into the match-up against Hamilton Southeastern undefeated on the season and riding high after beating Lawrence North on Friday night. HSE was looking to stop the Warriors in their own gym as the Royals travelled to Warren.
