It took until late in the game, but Lafayette Central Catholic pulled away from Frankfort late to win 68-52.
Key Stretch
Throughout the game, LCC would stretch the lead to eight or nine points. Frankfort answered each time to remain in the game. Finally, in the fourth quarter, the onslaught of Jonah Switzer layups off feeds from Carson Barrett was too much. Switzer finished with 31 points on 13-15 from two-point range.
Standout Players
Sophomore Carson Barrett tallied a triple-double (19 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists and four assists) while controlling the game on both ends. Although only a sophomore, Barrett plays with the poise of a senior or college player. He sees plays and cuts before they happen. At times, he directs his teammates to cut which lead to layups. Switzer was on the receiving end of most of Barrett’s assists. The senior guard finished with 31 points.
Alex Siegfried’s scoring was the bright spot for Frankfort. He finished with 23 points on 7-17 shooting. In the second half, he did a good job of cutting behind the LCC defense. His cuts led to layups and many trips to the free throw line.
Surprises
LCC was a streaky outside shooting team last year. They went 1-11 from deep against Frankfort. Despite that, LCC rolled. Most teams lose when they can’t hit shots the perimeter.
Next Up
LCC takes on Lafayette Jeff Friday. Frankfort plays Twin Lakes Thursday at Lafayette Jeff.
