Senior forward James Burns entered the game towards the end of the first quarter, and Lafayette Jeff controlled things the rest of the way.
Key Stretch
James Burns came off the bench with three minutes left in the first quarter. He proceeded to get a block and a layup immediately. Burns continued that production rate the rest of the game. He finished with 21 points, seven rebounds, six blocks and six steals in 21 minutes of playing time.
Standout Players
James Burns was completely dominant. He controlled the paint and passing lanes on the defensive end. Then had no problem finishing time after time at the basket.
Avery Beaver knocked home four three-pointers on his way to a game-high 24 points.
Freshmen Maximus Grimes and Aston Beaver had strong games. Grimes started and tallied seven points and six assists. Beaver came off the bench in the second half for six points.
Surprises
Twin Lakes has a completely different team from the one that was playing in Banker’s Life Fieldhouse in March. Even with the inexperience, the fact that Twin Lakes struggled with turnovers at an extremely high rate was surprising. They turned it over 18 times with Jeff stealing the ball 15 times. No team can overcome that many live ball turnovers.
Next Up
Jeff takes on Lafayette Central Catholic Friday. Twin Lakes will face Frankfort Thursday.
