Indiana Basketball Source’s 4A #2 Fort Wayne North Side handled 1A #1 Blackhawk Christian from start to finish for the 67-41 victory.

Key Play/Stretch

After shutting down Blackhawk in the first half, North Side blew the game open early in the third quarter. The Legends were up 18 at the break and never let Blackhawk get any confidence in the second half. Keion Brooks and Austin Boucher each scored six points in the third period to put the game out of reach.

Standout Players

Keion Brooks banged his mouth into the head of a teammate a minute into the game. It opened a big cut on his lip. That forced him to miss the first quarter of action. He returned to the game at the beginning of the second period. From there, Brooks controlled both ends. He secured 13 rebounds to go with his 21 points.

2021 forward Caleb Furst turned heads with his play. Furst finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. He scored over the smaller defenders that guarded him most of the game. He also stepped away from the basket for a couple of spot-ups. He showcased his tremendous potential against quality opponents.

Surprises

North Side really contained everyone except Furst. Jalan Mull was able to get to the paint but then lanes were closed and shots were suffocated once he got there. The shooters for Blackhawk weren’t comfortable at any point in the game. Blackhawk finished 2-19 from the three-point line. Brandan Johnson has been a top defender in the state for the last few years and he proved why Tuesday night. He shut down each player that he defended.

Next Up

North Side will be in action Friday against DeKalb. Blackhawk looks to bounce back against New Haven on Friday.
