It wasn't pretty, but Logansport (14-5) fought until the end to defeat Indianapolis Tech, 53-47. (Pictured: Anthony Anderson)
Key Stretch
Tech (4-14) held the lead for a good chunk of the second half against Logansport. Anthony Anderson and Damion WIlburn provided the offense for Tech most of the night. The duo had Tech leading by three going into the fourth quarter. A three-pointer by Will Penny tied the game up then the Berries took control of the lead.
It looked like Tech was going to make a play to tie or take the lead with under a minute to go. The Titans had Sam Skaggs trapped and Tech left with the ball, but a foul was called on Tech. It looked like Tech was going to force a turnover and possibly convert a transition opportunity since all the Logansport players were behind the action. Instead, Sam Skaggs made two free throws and Tech failed to score on the next possession. Those three things sealed the fate of Tech Friday night.
Key Players
Sam Skaggs kickstarted the Logansport early then made huge plays in the fourth quarter. The 2019 guard finished with 19 points. He also created opportunities for his teammates with his penetration and passing ability.
Will Penny was a few easy shots away from having a monster game. Penny finished with a game-high 21 points, but he missed three or four shots at the basket. If those go down, Penny might have had a 30-point game. Nonetheless, Penny knocked down five three-pointers in the game. He has plenty of potential.
Anthony Anderson scored 18 points to lead Tech. He has the quickness and shiftiness to get into the lane at a high rate. He is really tough to stop at the high school level when that is combined with his ability to hit outside shots. He's a natural scorer.
Damion WIlburn finished with 14 for Tech. The senior hit a couple of huge shots down the stretch to give Tech a chance. He was the consistent option if Logansport took Anderson away.
