In the conference finale for both teams, Center Grove used early hot shooting and a big performance from junior Trayce Jackson-Davis to ease past North Central on Friday night.
The story of the game early on was offensive efficiency, as the team’s made 13 of their first 15 shots from the field and combined for 8 of 9 from behind the arc in the first quarter. Spencer Piercefield, 2019 Indiana Wesleyan commitment, was on fire in the first eight minutes, hitting his first four three-point tries.
Ben Nicoson, Noah Gillard, and Nate McLain totaled five three-pointers as well for the Trojans. The hot shooting opened up the interior for Jackson-Davis, who went for 30 points on 9-14 from the floor and put the entire North Central frontline in foul trouble. When fouled, Jackson-Davis was able to convert from the free throw line, going 12-16 on the night.
North Central had a balanced spring attack with five players in double figures, led by senior forward Donald Lee’s 15 points. Caleb Pack hit four three-pointers on his way to 14 points, and sophomore forward Charlie Peterson added 10 points off the bench for Doug Mitchell’s squad.
