Key Stretch
Donald Lee was the catalyst for North Central's hot start. He tallied 10 points in the opening quarter behind outside shots and scores at the rim. Behind Lee, North Central (6-14) scored 21 points in the first period. Carroll stayed right with North Central, though. Riley Perlich used his strength and power in the paint to score on a regular basis.
The game was back in forth in the second and third quarters. Ty'Riek Johnson found his stroke in the second quarter for North Central he scored 11 of his 15 points in the period.
Carroll was able to take control of the game in the fourth quarter with its defense. The open looks that the Panthers were getting in the first three quarters were taken away. With Carroll pressuring every shot, North Central's shooting went cold. The Chargers opened the final period by outscoring North Central 9-2. Carroll added some free throws to salt the game away.
Standout Players
Riley Perlich was steady for Caroll. He hit a couple three-pointers to go with 4-5 from the paint. He finished with 17 points. Perlich provided Carroll a consistent scorer from start to finish.
David Ejah made his biggest impact on the glass. He finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Four of those rebounders came on the offensive end. He tracks down rebounds as well as anyone, especially at 6-foot-4.
Dan McKeeman tallied 17 points as well. He produced with a mix of drives and outside shots. McKeeman also went 5-6 from the free throw line. He handled North Central's defensive pressure well.
Arius Jones doesn't record eye-popping numbers, but he does a bit of everything. Jones finished with nine points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. His size and athleticism give him the ability create turnovers on the defensive then finish above the rim offensively.
Donald Lee had a great start before cooling off a bit. He finished with 17 points and four blocks. His defense took away a couple of Carroll scoring opportunities at the rim. North Central wasn't able to get him clean looks down the stretch, and that hurt North Central's offense. Carroll and David Ejah only allowed Lee three shots within eight feet of the basket.
Ty'Riek Johnson was setting the nets on fire in the second period. He rained three triples in the quarter plus a little floater in the lane. That accounted for 11 of his 15 points in the game. He finished 6-9 from the field.
