In overtime, Brownsburg beat Center Grove 72-69 on Senior Night.

Key Stretch

Brownsburg was up nine points with 2:33 left in the third quarter and took that same lead to the fourth quarter. Center Grove chipped away at Brownsburg's lead behind the play of Trayce Jackson-Davis and Spencer Piercefield. TJD was a problem all night for Brownsburg. Jackson-Davis finished with 33 points on 15-19 shooting.

After Center Grove took the lead, freshman Pierce Thomas buried a three-pointer off of a screen. Thomas had not looked for his shot most of the night but had the confidence to take a big shot with 90 seconds left. Brownsburg held the same one-point lead when Nate McLain found Piercefield cutting to the hoop. He was fouled while going up. Piercefield hit one of two free throws to send the game into overtime.

Center Grove jumped out to an early lead in overtime, but Reis Thomas and Cameron Alford had the answer for Brownsburg. Thomas followed his younger brother's lead by knocking down his own three. Then Alford drove and hit a layup plus the foul. Alford was dynamic in the second and third quarters. He scored 20 of his 25 points in those two periods.

Brownsburg won 72-69.

Standout Players

Trayce Jackson-Davis was tremendous. He had 33 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals. He dominated the paint for Center Grove. Purdue's Matt Painter was on hand to watch the 2019 prospect.

Spencer Piercefield was 5-8 from three-point range on his way to 20 points. He also had a handful of steals in the game. Piercefield opened up the floor for Jackson-Davis to work.

Cameron Alford was unstoppable in stretches for Brownsburg. At one point, Alford scored 19 points in 10 minutes of game time. He finished with 25 points on 10-15 shooting. He also had five rebounds, four assists and three steals. It was an all-around good game for Alford.

Brownsburg had a number of players step up in spots - Reis Thomas was scoring early and often. Antrez Baker had some big paint finishes. Malek Edmonds and Pierce Thomas had their moments as well. It was impressive to see some many players step up for Brownsburg when the team needed a play.

Brownsburg is 19-4 heading into sectional play. Center Grove is 15-6 with three of the losses coming in overtime. CG plays Columbus North to open the postseason.
